5 Key Points That 90% of People I Run Into Have a Hard Time Understanding

Heres a few things that Ive noticed across the plethora of individuals that I come across in my day to day:

Learn to live simply. You dont need to buy the newest, shiniest, fanciest thing. Similarly, you dont need to constantly keep consuming. Spend money only when you absolutely need to. This isnt in the hope to save (more on that next), but rather its just a mindset thing. You just dont need as much as you currently consume. Try living a simpler life, youll be all the better for it.

Youll Never Be Wealthy Working For Someone Else Or Saving

Most people think that you work hard and keep getting promotions to make more money. Unfortunately, thats not how it works. The tax system is setup in a way that it penalizes success as an employee. The more you make the more tax you pay. You dont have any deductions or incentives to claim to reduce taxable income, unlike a business owner. Working for someone else is the worst trade you can make: time for money. This isnt how true wealth is created. Youll also never save your way to success or financial independence. For example, if you have a small cake that will only feed you, you cant save it for a week and expect it to feed your whole family; Itll still only feed you, and its probably a lot less tasty cause you stored it so long (aka inflation).

If you dont have a strategy to tackle life, youre going to fail. Living off the cuff and tackling things day to day is almost a guarantee that youll either live a life of mediocrity or one of stress. Strategy allows you to be proactive vs reactive. Proactive people win because they can see the obstacles coming and can prepare to tackle them effectively. Reactive ones are often easily overwhelmed and face a ton of stress because they have no clue whats around the corner.

Understand the importance of your time. Its constantly slipping away from you. Theres so many people/entities competing for your attention on a daily basis. Whether its friends, TV, ads, spouses, children, etc, know how to manage your attention effectively and only give it to the deserving. Spending hours of your focus and attention indulging in facebook comment debates with some stranger youve never met and whose opinion is irrelevant to your day to day is not the best way to spend time. Focus your attention on the things that are most important to you, and watch your life change for the better.

Invest In Yourself & Give Back. Your Network Is Your Net Worth

Consistently invest in yourself. Reading is the best way to do this. Absorb knowledge left by those before you so you can learn their lessons and benefit from them. Take time to focus on yourself, meditate and listen to the little inner voice. Connect with it frequently; it will hone your sense of intuition. Also give back to those around you frequently. Whether its friends, family, or society, always give back to others because they will help you as well. The teacher often learns more than the student. Dont be selfish or greedy about it because people will see right through it. The more people you can influence and the larger your network, the greater the magnitude of beneficial impact you can have and this most likely will significantly impact the amount of wealth, respect and power you command.
